got myself a mk2 gti 8v

I have just picked my golf mk2 gti 8v today sorry no pictures but its in pretty good condition. i have a few issues there not major but i would like them sorted
1st the rev counter does not work it just flickers and flashes the water coolant light?.
2nd 5th gear you have to push down the gear stick?
3rd the drivers seat does not fold down think the cable has snapped?
4th when is the cambelt due is it ever 60,000 miles ?

1st - Check the wires on the coil
2nd - No 5th gear should go strainght like any forward gear
3rd - Yep snapped cable.
4th - Check the condition of the belt or history,  Failing that - replace t.

also the clock is set to the wrong time how do you change it

All common issues that have been covered on here many times 

you will be having lots more of these common issues, so a test drive of the " search " function would be well advised

as for your clock, 2 tiny buttons underneath it, sunk into the dash facia, thin prodder on them and ta dar
