Golf 1.4 TSI GT (160) - Avoid?
« on: 15 March 2014, 23:11 »
Hey guys,

I put a deposit down on a mk.6 Golf 1.4 TSI GT (160) today and was really exited until I was browsing on the internet and read a lot about the dreaded misfire and piston issues.

I drove the car today and it felt and sounded great and is in immaculate condition, it is on a 10 plate registered in July 2010 - The car has 31k miles on the clock and I noticed it had the gear shift up indicator so from what I've read it has been in for the recall.

I've read lots of reports of the engine being bad but I couldn't find all that much on the Golf, only the Scirocco and Polo and a lot of reports are from all over so not sure if there are different variants of the engine and some more susceptible than other?

Should I stay well clear?

Thanks in advance.

SM
