Hi guys,

Quick question...My 16v has been standing for a few months but is now back on the road. I have noticed that when using a lot of wheel turn i.e parking or tight turns at slow speed there is what sounds like a loud twang/clang from one of my front springs. It almost sounds like the spring is catching then releasing but this is a new noise only developed since I left the car standing, never did it before. I jacked it up a bit to view the spring and it is not obviously broken. I am pretty sure it is the spring and not CV etc as the noise reverberates a little. Any ideas what this might be?

I was going to delete this message but I guess it might be useful to others who have similar symptoms. I just jacked it up again and had a really good poke around with a screwdriver and it turns out the coil HAS snapped. Right at the top and still roughly in place which is why I didn't notice it the first time.
