Hi just wondering if anyone can help I just bought a mk4 2.0 GTI and noticed on the engine cap there's a sludge I was thinking of getting engine flush and flushing the engine but I've been reading up about it and most people are saying to steer clear of doing that as that could seize the engine could anyone help please !!!

could be a number of things.

clean the cap off and take the car on a long journey, could just be moisture in the oil from condensation.

if not could be something like head gasket. check to see if theres any oil/mayo in the expansion tank

Clean it off and see if it comes back, doing a lot of short runs will not help.
