Thanks for the replies chaps, I've been leaning towards VW garages as I felt I would get better piece of mind than a dealer, though i haven't ruled them out completely. I've been hesitant to go private just because of the unpredictability it entails!
Definitely set on a GTI now, i've been looking about for a good while now and I just can't see anything that ticks all the boxes like the Golf does!
