Golf mk5 2.0 FSI GT Fuel pump Cam follower
« on: 19 January 2014, 17:40 »
I have a 2.0 FSI GT which is now coming up to 58,000mls. I have been reading a lot about the TFSI engine in the GTI  needing to have the High Pressure Fuel Pump cam follower replaced on a regular basis, to avoid it wearing through completely and trashing the camshaft.

Does anyone know if the FSI engine (code BLX) fitted in my car also suffers from the same problem ? The reason I ask is that on my engine the pump and cam follower is fitted underneath the cam, whereas on the TFSI its mounted on the side ? It's also a lot more hassle to remove the pump and check the follower on mine too.

If you are capable of doing the check yourself i would say at your current milage to get it swapped out for piece of mind.

If you use an indy i would get them to do so, however i would dread the cost if you had to get it done at the stealers.

got my swapped out (mk5 GTI) and had some wear so was happy it was done.

also think about throwing in some millers nanodrive oil.

reports have been little to no wear on the follower when using the mentioned oil

hope the above helps
