What on earth do you do to get offered a car in payment for work, debt collector?

Dubber, take proper payment instead. Why should you have the hassle of selling/trading a car to get your payment.
I'm an architect/planning consultant, but being self employed, I'm always on the lookout for a deal that could make a few quid. I'd not drawn any fees on one job that had been on going for over a year, so when the client mentioned tha he was selling his car, to thought it might be an opportunity to make an extra couple of grand.
Fair enough. I can see why you'd consider it. Couple of extra £k not to be sneezed at.
