Brand new to the fold with servicing question?

Hi Chaps, my name is Martin and I am "brand new" to the Golf fold.

I'm sure I can look this up on the search but I thought I'd ask just to get things rolling.

I currently own a sprint blue Audi TTS which I am selling. I have seen a Mk 6 Golf GTI for sale with 64,000 miles on the clock for 12.5k. The current owner says it's due for a smaller oil service, but not wanting to sound dubious, could anyone tell me if that sounds right? My TTS is currently going to be serviced at 60,000 miles and that is a major service.

Would any of you good peeps be able to she any light on the major/minor service intervals pls.

By the way, I believe the GTI Mk6 is a chain and not a belt.

Hi Martin, welcome

The mk6 is a chain but there is an issue with this which you need to be aware of.  Look in the mk6 section at the timing chain/tensioner threads and you will see.  Also post your service question in that section and no doubt someone will be able to advise.
