Good Body shop in Bucks/ Berks/Herts or West London?
« on: 22 September 2013, 12:22 »
Hi all,
my 91 Pearl Grey GTI 8V has two spots of the dreaded tinworm. One is on the common issue of the left most or spare wiper spindle and the other is near the driver's side rear wheel arch. Its about the size of a 20p coin. Apart from a few parking dints and the fact the front arch needs sticking back to the body, the rest of the body is immaculate.

Does any one know of a good body shop to get these jobs done? I may go for a flat panel but the car is 90% standard so a replacement may be on the cards. I am in Chesham, Bucks but I am willing to travel 30 to 40 miles or so to get the job done right. Can someone recommend anywhere to go/avoid and any ideas for costs for these jobs?

Regards

Tony

I too am after a paint shop that can colour code an R32 rear bumper to my car. So far, Volkswagen have quoted me just shy of £300! I have been given a place in Kent which is sort of on my route to my homeland of Essex but would prefer somewhere that's not over an hours drive from the Northwood/Watford area of London. (Yes, I'm hi-jacking your post, I'm sorry!)

It appears that so far, no, there is no recommended paint/body shop. I've resorted to getting a quote from Volkswagen in Watford for the work I need done!

Just seen this, you can try Diligent Coachworks in Edmonton. The owner has a mk2 Golf Rallye with R32 swap, so they're happy to work on Golfs. Had some sill repair done by them a couple of years ago and was a good job, was recommended them by other members as well.
