Tough I best get myself introduced after having had the please of some good technical advise on here already.
Brit ex-pat living in the Netherlands, had a Mk3 GTI for the past 6months or so as the daily (mainly used by the GF), and just picked up a Mk2 GTI for me to use through the winter and to replace the one I sold before moving out here. (Also got a 1959 VW Beach Buggy and a 1970 Oldsmobile)
Excuse the rather crap picture, but from the day we picked the mk2 up 2 weeks ago...
Has no APK (MOT) on it currently... and so far has needed rear discs and pads, rear calipers rebuilding, new backbox, gearshifter rebuilding, rear seatbelt changing and a few light bulbs... currently fighting my way through getting the ABS to work... Hopefully so long as all the parts arrive it will be in for re-test tomorrow afternoon.
