managed 60mpg
« on: 19 November 2013, 10:39 »
Hi , I took my gtd to whitby over the weekend , dropped it into eco mode and was very gentle , I drove for 31 miles and managed a 60mpg run...not as good as advertised but not bad.
46 mpg on the way back in sport mode.
Its one month old and just short of 1000 miles.

Excellent result, are you driving a manual or DSG?

Ok. MH rekons you can get even more out of a DSG although it should be thirstier.

I pick up my GTD DSG tomorrow so will soon see. Should get on about 700 miles by next weekend so will see how my fuel figures look.

The DSGers here (and my dad) generally seem to be doing better than the manual lot (myself included) for mpg. Not sure whether DSG changes are being more economical than the manual change prompts, or whether it is just coincidence for our mix. My dad cannot seem to do less than 48mpg - even doing 90mph on a motorway for a medium-long (100+ miles) journey. I can't manage that sticking to 80mph on a 30 mile trip on uncluttered roads.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....
