Stop/Start

It won't work on a GTD when a regen is happening either.

I thought just pressing the "A" button next to the gear lever disabled it ?

If you don't like the stop start ,get into the habit of hitting it every start (in my case hit the starter button &
the stop start overide button it becomes Habit ) if you want it back for a traffic jam or whatever just press again ,
on a DSG if you forget to disable it ,the car stops ,press the button and the car will re start and it will stay disabled .
Lots of Odd things happen with all these Gimos , No seat belt when putting the car in the garage will disable the brake
hold and auto parking brake for example ,  Keeps you on your toes

Quick question on Stop/Start - if you park, prior to leaving the car, I'm assuming that the engine will stop. If so, is it still necessary to push the start/stop button to shut down everything completely before exiting the car?

Yep, look at Start/Stop as a 'Standby' function, if you get out the car without switching the engine off fully an alarm will sound warning you.
