Auto handbrake

Anyone else having issues with the auto handbrake not releasing properly sometimes?

Only seem to have issues when reversing.  Got in the car this morning to reverse out of my space and the car just raised back and didn't move.  The kind of thing you would expect when you have forgotten to lower the handbrake. I stopped trying to reverse, back into neutral and hit the brakes.  Back into reverse and I was away without issue.  Second time thats happened now... (Well... There was a third but I was being stupid and had forgotten to put my seat belt on).

It only happens to me the morning after I've washed the car but I've come to expect it as it happened all the time with my TT

My handbrake was great for the 6 weeks or so, then last week it started playing up. At the lights it wont release and I have to push the clutch a few times or rev like a loon to get going. Not a great look TBH!

It got to the stage I was worried someone might drive into the back of me if they think i was taking off but I was stuck.

I am now using the manual handbrake which is great!

Mine is sometimes reluctant to let go when I engage reverse. It has failed mid-journey once - MFD warnings for both handbrake and autohold. I took it into Benfield the other day for that and other warranty work. Georgek says it needs a recalibration of a host of sensors. I told them this but all they did was clear the memory log of the fault. Tonight the same thing happened again - complete failure of the system, and restored functionality once the ignition was turned off, key removed, reinserted and ignition back on.

Will be taking it back and also give them a piece of my mind about how they took my car for a 28 mile trip following suspension top bearing replacement. A mile down the road and going over a few speed bumps would have ascertained that the car was fixed of squeaky suspension.

That's what it will be dippy. It's the brake pads rusting to the rotors. To prevent after washing either dry the wheels or take the car for a quick spin and apply the brakes a couple of times
