2.0 8v gti exhaust noise

maybe a silly question but do all 2.0 8v's so throaty? when I bought it I swore it had an exhaust blow but total opposite, has a new system including cat. just curious if they are all the same?

my 2.0slow 8v is the same and i checked to see if the system was blowing anywhere it might be that the system has had a silencer deleted? i know my mk3 8v has and its straight through to the backbox and its the same the 8v in the mk4 is basically an updated version of the mk3's i think the exhaust system is similar
