Clearly it's the love child of the mk5 and mk6.

Elements of are reminiscent of the mk5 unit.  Albeit slightly different layout.

It's the climate unit out of 2012 and later mk6 Golf cabriolets, looks similar to the new unit in the mk7 but is a plug and play fit into any mk6 golf..
£450 for the unit via the dealer and £16 for the dash trim required or there are plenty of Chinese replica units available on eBay or Bold Sport will do you a climate unit and trim for $199 plus postage, 5 minute job to fit and may need the adaptation carrying out to get full functionality (10 secs of holding the correct button combination down on the unit to sync it with the compressor)

The problem with the early mk6 one is ergomically it is just not great to easily use on the move compared to the mk5, I have used the latest and it is way simpler and has greater control, not sure id shell out that amount of reddies
