Electrical Burning

After a bit of help here, got a 1997 mk3 cabby. She's always been a bit temperamental, but her new thing is not starting. Checked all the usual, nothing wrong there, but then noticed a bit of smoke in the engine bay (that awful electrical burning smell with it!) it was from under the throttle and air intake.

I'm a big novice, and my trusty friend Haynes has let me down!
