Changing the Spec , added 14 weeks to bw

Hi,

After reading all the review and youtube vids, I wanted to add park asist....emailed chap at dealers and his reply was...

"Although you have provision build week 44 and has not been confirmed yes you should be able to add P.A, it may change your build week and could mean BW confirmed in Feb 2014. There is no way of finding out until I actually change your order and add P.A"

Anybody recently add a park assist or any other spec, any delay...seems bizare that I might have to wait an extra 14 weeks due to this

I was told the same thing when I thought about adding park assist to my order and I decided it wasn't worth the extra wait. Now my car is still not built two weeks after its confirmed build week I wonder whether I made the right decision??

I'm hoping park assist is one of those things that after you have you used it a few times and novelty goes, you park without it anyway.......... as some have said on the forum. Would have been nice to have though

exactly mate, I added satnav to my order 2 weeks ago and chap at dealers came back and said has not delayed build week but at the time he did not highlight  " could be a major delay" but now im adding P.A delay is all he is talking about......my darkside is thinking is he going to give my car to someone else or for them selves as a demo and rebook me in giving me a bw in Feb 2014...which  5 month from now....which is how long it takes from signing the dotted line to getting car in UK...hhhmmm

We ordered end of August but the dealer then found a cancelled order that we could have two months earlier. I was told that because it had already been given a build week the spec couldn't be modified. If this is true it could explain the change in the build week, you'd effectively be placing the order again from scratch? Makes no sense though does it?

I would have thought something like that would cause you to get a new order number?  If you make the change and get delayed but your order no is still the same I'm afraid it's just VW not your dealer.  My own instincts tell me that VW would use any excuse for a delay and that changing your spec gives them an easy excuse!

Park assist ordered and yes no change in build week...GTD should be with me in 2013
