just ordered my first vw, got a lot of useful info off here about discounts so have gone through drive the deal. 

Was really impressed by my two test drives and have gone for:

3dr
red
performance pack
ACC
Dynaudio
nav

discounted to 25k ish
very nearly ended up with an audi s3 as they initially came out the same amount per month on pcp due to higher residuals but i could get a better deal on the golf and afford more extras.  Now for the waiting...

i have come from an Alfa Romeo loyal family so i will miss them, but the giulietta cloverleaf wasn't in the same league in terms of driving dynamics

previous history is Alfa 147 1.6, Alfa Mito 1.4 turbo (135bhp)

Yeah im aware of the trouble people are having in getting deliveries.  I will hear from the dealer shortly with an 'estimate' which I will take with a pinch of salt.  Im not worried about getting it until the new year so don't mind a long wait so long as it doesn't get pushed back too far.

I ordered mine on Friday and was told January as an earliest estimate.  Another dealership (Citygate Watford) told me there would be a 9 to 12 month wait, but I think that was because they were trying to push their ex-demo model onto me for the same as I am paying for my new one (It had things like the £1,700 SatNav, which I don't want anyway).  Anyway, so long as I have it in early MArch I will be a happy bunny.
