Parking Sensors fallen out!
« on: 16 September 2013, 11:35 »
Anyone had any problems with parking sensors? Had my car a week - golf gti mk6. The two centre rear parking sensors are lose - one has fallen out and the other is about to. I have phoned the garage where i bought it from but they haven't really helped yet. I'm hoping they will replace them under warranty but the feedback i have been getting isn't promising!!

Has the bumper been off ion the past perhaps? I wouldn't be happy either but you'll guarantee it'll be something simple. You might be as well just to get the dealer to sort for the sake of an hours labour?

Is the car still within it's original warranty or does it have a vw used car warranty?  What have the garage said about it?

I haven't removed the bumper myself but not sure if it was done previously. I got a years Dealer warranty when i bought the car but it was first registered in Nov '11 so I thought I would get the remainder of the manufacturer warranty and then 1 year from November - but I don't think it works like that. Garage didn't know what to say when I rang them! I am hoping to hear back today after they have spoken to the service manager.

Thanks

Jenks

Update - The garage have agreed to fit 2 new sensors free of charge - surprisingly expensive job at £299!!! Hopefully that will be the end of it!

£299 will be the retail cost, not what it will cost them. The sensors will cost them about £20 each and there's about an hours labour.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

Glad to hear they've rightly agreed to sort it for you.

Cheers guys! Yeah the retail cost is £299 - but my local dealer are doing the work and charging the dealer I got the car from.

Personally id be asking if the car had been rear ended seems very strange for the two middle ones to pop in like that :undecided:
Golfgti build quality is average at best.
