Painted my Trim
« on: 08 September 2013, 21:03 »
After sorting all the interior out i as every other mk4 owner has a hate for the wood or black trim  well mine was looking alittle tired and tatty so seemed to be a good idea as it was all out the car to get it painted,so opted for vw pearl black and looking abit better now for it.....

Also decided to replace the tatty gearknob & gaitor so robbed the mk3 of its mk4 one  and trimmed an inch or so off the shaft looks better than it was....

The window switch panel looks great.

Don't like the look of shiney paint on the other handles or centre console though sorry. Just Doesent look right IMO. Looks like youv done a good job though and if your happy that's all that counts.

How did you prep it as I'm looking to do mine ASAP did you prime it ect..

1 Clean trim and rub all parts down with some 800 grit wet & dry (this preps the plastic)
2 Prime with some grey plastic primer (2 coats will be fine,if your trim is still rough you can prime over with some filler primer)
3 Basecoat of your chosen colour(2 coats)
4 Clearcoat laquer (2 coats)

hope this helps
