Mk2 20vt speedo

Hi all

My mk2 developed a rattle in the dash on my big road trip. I needed to replace a dash bulb so took the dash apart and found the rattle. It's coming from the white connector which connects the speedo cable to the speedo. The pin inside the white connector is rattling and causing the noise. I have also noticed the speedo needle not rising smoothly.

Could it just be a new connector required? Can these be bought separately or should I get the whole cable like this?

Finally if I get the cable is it easy to fit at the engine end?

is your mileage counter working? when mine stopped turning I was getting a ellish ticking from behind clock but when I fixed speedo head the noise stopped.
