MK 2 Golf GTI colour confusion!

trying to source some paint for my golf, it has been re-sprayed at some point in the past, was originally white.  Anyone got any ideas what the current colour is? or paint code?

why? My local paint shop cant identify it, the car was sprayed about 10 years/6 keepers ago with no paperwork. Im sure ive seen other mk2's the same colour who would possible have the paint code.  The most sensible place surely for an answer would therefore be a forum such as this one. Or is that not what forums are for these days?

the problem is, it may be a SIMILAR colour to other G2s you have seen, but not an exact match 

1, is it even a VW colour, you dont know this for sure ? 

2, does it even have a paint code, they could have made a one off batch up ?

thanks for your help mate, it does look similar but your right blacks do tend to look the same untill you spray it on the car haha! think ile try a few paint places see if they can match it up using one of those camera type gizmos

Take your filler flap off, take it to your paint supplier, they will be able to match it...
Ask them to cross reference the pattern with VW paint codes first, and hopefully it'll be a VW colour, and giving you the correct paint code for that colour

Looks like LA9V if genuine colour but could be way off. Not clear enough
