engine cut out
« on: 25 August 2013, 22:32 »
hi all,

today i drove home from a friends, about 60 miles and had been on the motorway so worked the engine quite well (not thrashed obv just got up to temp sorta thing) its a 2.0 cabriolet.
anyway about 2 miles from home whilst doing 30mph the car just lost power and all needles dropped on the dash, the lights on the dash did not come on and the radio kept playing. i tried to pull my foot off the clutch and bump it sorta thing but it didnt go so i pulled over. i tried to restart the car and it started and drove away again fine!
any ideas what this could of been? was very strange.

could be a bad ignition switch. if your stereo is wired direct to battery it wouldn't be affected.

ah ok that would make sense, it is a bit dodgy, have to hold it to get the roof to operate! thanks
