Suspension kit advise
« on: 06 September 2013, 21:36 »
Want to sharpen up the handling on a 1.8T , have been drawn into the usual ebay stuff ranging from £140-£170, i dont really want it bouncing around like a go kart and fancy the option of adjusting the ride height, anyone tried the cheaper ebay stuff? as ever only have a small budget, any advise would be great, Cheers

You get what you pay for, cheap coilovers have a harsh, bouncy, crashy ride. IMO for half decent coilovers you need to be looking at spending closer to the £400 mark.

I ran JOMs on mine for about a year and a half, they were brand new when fitted and 3 of them are now leaking and the ride was truly awful.

Not a problem, with that said the ride gets considerably worse the lower the coilovers are, at a 40mm drop the ride was reasonable. That still doesn't avoid the issue of poor build quality though.

So maybe I should look at getting some decent quality updated coil spring instead?

I'm looking at suspension kits for my LCR at the mo,
Coil overs are off the list as they are overkill for my needs, A decent set of spings and shocks will out perform coilovers imo, most people never have them set up properly.

I'm looking at Bilstein b12s
