Help! Question regarding engine codes/warranty
« on: 20 August 2013, 19:15 »
Hi everyone. Been a member of the forums for just over a year now but have only been browsing so this is my first post. Sorry to say its regarding a problem with my car

So last August I purchased a 61 plate mk6 Golf GT TDI from a Dealership. The car was 8 months old at the time with 9000 Miles on and is now 20 Months old with 23,000 miles which is now slowing down due me no longer having to commute to work in it!  :smug: A couple of months ago I put the car on coilovers and 19" wheels and then a few weeks ago drove the car to Holland for the Men In Volkswagen event.

To cut a long story short the car was fine all the way there but while driving home about an hour from the Ferry in dunkirk I felt the car lose power (limp mode) whilst driving down the motorway and noticed the glow plug light flashing on dash  So I pulled over at nearest services switched car off and back on again and all was well then it happened again twice in a row after the ferry and has been happening every now and then and more often recently since i've been back and now the engine light is permanently on (amber). Fortunately I have a friend with VAGCOM so when i got home we wired it up to the car and it pulled up 4 faults, all intermittent but one on there from before I purchased the car! I will attach pictures of faults below.

So I have 2 questions, Firstly does anybody know what the actual problem could be? Secondly I called up volkswagen yesterday as the car is still under warranty (or is it!?) and they have said they will collect the car on thursday, take it for diagnostics and if they decide to cover it under warranty I wont have to pay anything but if not I have to pay £60 for the diagnostic! So secondly I wondered will the car still be covered under warranty although I have swapped the stock suspension out for coilovers, bearing in mind I have done no mods to the engine!

Any responses would be greatly appreciated

Thanks,

James.

Here are the faults VCDS picked up

It will be covered by warranty as mods you have made have no relation to faults logged. Boost fault is normally vacuum control valve on top of turbo and air mass fault could indicate EGR cooler and valve blocked, if it is EGR make sure they change all pipes aswell so they don't block at later date

Could be a simple boost leak
