i had a similar problem with mine it was ok until one day on the way to work it sort of hicupped then back fired and wouldnt rev (flat spot) i then had to keep restarting it and then coasted into the car park, the revs counter would be up and down between 1500 ish and about 6000 but the rev counter would show other wise (like upto 3500 or so) after a process of elinination it turned out to be the distrubuter it now runs sweet as a nut! I ended up replacing the coil, the dizzy cap, the rotar arm!
