Maths qustion
« on: 11 August 2013, 15:30 »
doing some work and I know the following

Voltage in scenario 1 and excitation in scianario 1 are proportional to voltage in scenario 2 and excitation in scenario 2

therefore we know

V1/V2=E1/E2

now I need to work out V2... unsure how to do this. if it was v1 I was working out it would be easy just X each side by V2. but unsure what you do when you want the one on the top...

had a little play around and got the following

V1/V2=E1/E2
X each side by V2
V1=V2 x (E1/E2)
divide each side by (E1/E2)
V1/(E1/E2)=V2

but haven't a clue if that's right or if im completely off track... been a while since iv done transpositions and all that so any help would be appreciated.

or even if someone could just point me in the right direction...

V1(E1/E2)=V2

If V1 is divided by V2 originally, you multiply both sides by V1 which cancels out both V1s on the side you're trying to work out the unknown. Your then left with V1 multiplied by E1 over E2 = V2.

Hope that explains it mate.   :smiley:

Sorry just read it properly, it's exactly the same mate. I think of it as a clockwise circle so whatever your moving over moves around in that sense if you know what I mean.......
