Distributor question!!! a bit URGENT

Hi gang...

Well after searching around a garage near me has a golf in that i can rob the dizzy off..

The only problem is i don't find out what model it is till i go in the morning.I know the 1.3 etc are different but is the 1.6 and 1.8 models the same?? ie the Driver and the GTI's?

Mines a 16V 1989 GTI.I'm not looking forward to paying GSF £138 for a new one Also because of the state of mine i doubt they will exchange.

Oh and is the 8V one the same as the 16V one? There's one on EBAY

the 8 valve and sixteen valve dizzies are totally different i'm afraid! the 8v comes up from the front of the block, while the 16v, i believe comes out from the end of the cylinder head. i know they are different as my 8v dizzy went last friday and i looked on ebay, but ended up borrowing one off a mate. hope that helps!!
