mk3 golf 1.8 adz died
« on: 31 July 2013, 08:27 »
Good morning people, well its not such a good morning in my little world.

So friday i received my new coilovers and amp, fitted these and all was sweet. drove the car as normal for two days....
Then on sunday evening things started to go down hill, i was out for a drive when it suddenly died, all the lights on the dash work everything works barr the engine, it wouldn't start again and ended up being returned home via a breakdown truck.

My first thought was does it have spark? to which i have confirmed that it does indeed have spark, so then i moved onto fuel.

I removed the top, off the single point injection unit, and turned the key. Now heres the thing, when running normally you can see the fuel being injected onto the butterfly valve, this time however there was no fuel being injected. it was at this point i gave a shot of easy start into the unit and turned the key, it tried to run but once it had burnt the easy start off it died again. this pointed me to no fuel.

I place 12V across the fuel pump relay and hear a click so i know the pump is getting powered, i then removed the fuel flow & return pipes individually to see if there was fuel and pressure at the inlet to the injector there was lots of both. So next i checked the resistance across the injector (haynes  manual quotes 1.2 - 1.6 ohms @ 15°c) the resistance of my injector measured 2.6k ohms @ approx 20°c

So after many more hours tinkering and still no joy - i bow to the advice of a higher level and this is where you all come in.... what can i try to resolve my problem is it the injector that is fubarred ?
