1.8t loss of power
« on: 10 July 2013, 21:47 »
Hi guys,

Ive used the search and come up with a few potentials but thought a fresh perspective would help.

Its an AGU, basically it started out on occasions when you boot it the power cuts out and then comes back (almost like the clutch slipping and then biting again) the engine is running sweet and i know its not the clutch etc.

It has subsequently got worse to where im basically running limp mode - in terms of sound its that bumbling you get when you hit the rev limiter and loses power.

A really weird thing is the speedometer has started to go funny saying its going 10mph when stationary or it will flutter whilst driving at speed.

Originally the car drove better without the MAF connected, but after unplugging it again today it was still unhappy.

I havent driven it plugged in vagcom but stationary. Duty cycle only went up to about 3% throughout the rev range and the MAF reading was between 3-6.

n75? MAF? Lambda sensor?

What are your thoughts or definitive way to diagnose.

Cheers for any help!

Its now rough on idle and sounds like a Subaru.

Coil packs?

The MAF Barely reads over 70 at full throttle which definitely isn't right though.

Cheers guys, would this account for lumpy and poor pull below turbo spool and also the subaru fuel econemy? The car consistantly gets 35mpg but is now down to about 20ish.

The cars forsale, so no point in spending out to fix it but would be great to point the perspective buyer in the right direction.

Started the car today, replaced the Ignition Amp which made no difference, so will be taking it back. The engine sounds fine but the exhaust still sounds burbly its acting as if its in limp mode in terms of low boost. DOES NOT SOUND LIKE ANY MISFIRE...

Checked block 002 on vagcom and the MAF is only reading 39g at 6000 RPM... but is at 3-5ish at idle... would this account for it? Pretty sure it used to be loads higher considering its remapped.

Cant check lambda because i dont have the full VCDS at the moment :(.

*this test was completed stationary.

To conclude this thread... i am a MAF down, so have one f/s if anyone wants one brand new.

The problem was the coilpack on cylinder 2. quick replacement and the car runs better than ever.
