New MAF Required
« on: 02 July 2013, 10:05 »
Hi Folks,

I am after a new MAF. After checking GSF website...I have 2 options  - standard or premium.

I think the premium is £130 (bosch) and the £60 one is a aftermarket one. Has anyone purchased the cheaper one from GSF and used it.

I know folks are going to say getting the genuine one, however my pockets are tight for £130 this month. As long as the cheaper one lasts a few months I will buy a bosch one later in the year.

Any feedback r.e. cheaper MAF from GSF would be appricated. Plus I have a 10% code for GSF :)

Thanks

The old saying buy cheap buy twice is especially relevant to MAF sensors. Most people tend to find they last a few months then they die again

I'm running the cheaper one now, no issues and its still got a 12m warranty

it'll have a refurbished or Exchange sticker on but doesn't matter I looked at mine and it was a brand new housing and the MAF unit inside was new too
ARZ K03s, Oettinger Side Skirts, R32 front, Carbon stage 2, Forge 007p (yellow spring), Forge Actuator (yellow spring), Pipercross panel filter with DSG parts, N249 and N112 deleted, SAI deleted, Carbon canister deleted, Rear wiper deleted, Long Life turbo back custom exhaust with 200 cell sports cat, VR6/G60 clutch kit, Creation Motorsport TIP, Catch can, 'Wellycooler', K04 charge pipe, S3 ported inlet manifold - looks pretty standard on the outside though :)

I would normally agree but my genuine VAG one busted within the warranty and because its 'not standard' voided the warranty so Ill buy cheap and twice if needed at £55 or whatever it works out to

I went through 2 non-VW sensors in 18months, both were Bosch and 'premuim' GSF ones. Now running a genuine one straight from VW with no problems at all.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I just going to buy the cheap one for £50 delivered. Like I said, if it lasts a few months I will be happy. I will keep my old VW one so I can get the surcharge back when I come to buy a genuine one

Also the car is stock and I hardly ever boot it

It looks like thats the price from the dealers once you have handed the old MAF back to them. Running th 3rd party maf for a week and no issues yet. :)
