Stripping the Scorpion 5000 Immobiliser
« on: 23 June 2013, 22:08 »
Hi All!
Just recently bought a 97 8v gti as a project. Not the prettiest thing in the parking lot but did come with a lot of history and I only paid peanuts for it. I wasn't even aware that it had a working immobiliser till today. Well to cut a long story short, the battery had died, so I recharged it and fitted back in the car and lo behold, the alarm makes its presence felt!! Anyhow, after a bit of research I found how to disable it. So now the alarm does not make an all mighty racket everytime I try to start the car, and the car turns over but wont fire up! I've decided to rip the unit out and have discovered that it is the scorpion 5000 dealer fitted module. Has anyone attempted to do this on their own? It is pretty well wired into the fusebox and I would appreciate any help or advice from anyone who has had problems or has any experience with this sort of thing.
