I joined about a month ago and was hoping by now to be joining in as an 'active' member.
We sold our V6 4Motion at the start of the year, as it was costing us a small fortune in fuel bills and it just felt time for a change. I've now been scouring the classifieds for 4 months looking for the right late registered, FSH, low mileage mark 5 GTI. The biggest problem is that the guvna (wife), only wants White, Red or Dark Blue and full leather interior, which has meant that our choice has been reduced, plus when you add in my minimum requirement of DSG and 5 doors, it has meant that very little has come up.
The only concession to the leather interior issue is that she 'quite likes' the yellow or blue Pirelli edition! I can't get her to go for an edition 30 - which would be my choice, so my question is this...
On the basis that the Pirelli is pretty rare to begin with and with the exception of a recent blue 3 door manual I've seen for sale, they've all been black or silver, can anyone give me an idea of how many blue Pirellis there are in the UK? As it might give me an idea of timescale. I could have kicked myself as I know a blue 5 door Pirelli went through here in Feb/March. I know the yellow version is very rare so I'm not holding any hope of getting one of them. Any help suggestions would be appreciated. I'm doing the whole Autotrader, eBay, Pistonheads, Gumtree and this forum classified thing. Is there anything else I've missed?
I have a back up plan, of a Bournemouth based dealer's low mileage Red, 5 door, DSG, 2008 GTI, which I know will go shortly (if it hasn't already), but I'm loathed to commit as it's the only car I've seen so far, plus it doesn't quite tick all the boxes - no factory sat nav, parking sensors or sunroof.
Hence this why I need your advice. Should I wait a bit longer or stop being so picky and jump in?
