Its been a while.......

.....Ive been playing with MG Rovers for the past couple of years but have now bought a dirt cheap mk4 GTI non turbo.

Its mechanically excellent and has lots of history but has completely lost its lacquer (and paint) at the front.

Still, tidying it up will give me something to do over the coming summer months.

What do you guys think about the paintwork then? Replacement panels? Vinyl wrap? Respray?

my paintwork is in a very simualar state to yours. same colour too. i really dont know what to do with mine to be honest. don`t wanna look like a chav with rattle-canned matt black but times really are hard lol
seagul sh!t seems a good theme at the moment. i may just park it down at the beach for a few days, that should sort it

Maybe we should just embrace it, it could be the next fashion! Everyone will want faded red cars!

id say a respray that colour red looks good when cleaned up

i had the opportunity to buy a full front end (bora) the other day for £80.. i really thought about it hard as was struggling for cash and money needed spending elsewhere at the time.. eventually decided against it.

red is a nightmare to math looks ok during the day but park it under a street light at night an it looks  but red mk4 do look nice

Well, Im no detailing expert but yesterday afternoon I blitzed the wings with Farecla G3 paint renovator (that stuff is awesome), and a can of lacquer and they have come up surprisingly well. As you can probably see, Ive started on the bonnet too.

They obviously wont ever be perfect again but they dont look as bad as they did.

At least I wont be as embarrassed now while saving up for a respray.
