help needed engine codes

new to vws's not a clue to be fair. just bought a mk4 golf gti 1.8t. was having problems with it boosting. visited another online forum and question popped up what engine code is the car... its AGN which is non turbo ? looks like sum1 as done a turbo conversion ?? seriously need help cheers guys

just been taking a closer look at engine code and it appears to have been tampered with. sum one tried to change last letter from U to N ?

Hi, Looks like its had a FMIC install aswell as after market diverter valve, probably a whole host of other bits been tampered with too

Most likely its an agu. Take a picture of the engine code stamp. Also what does it say on your log book? Tried to match the engine numbers with chasis? Think thats how you know if engine has been tampered with (i think). What year is the car?
