Private plate question
« on: 30 April 2013, 21:51 »
I've sold my car and I'm filling out the pwork to transfer to my new car. Problem is on the pwork to transfer it it asked for the registered keeps address. Is that my name or the address of the new keeper that I signed the car over to

IMO it should be the new keeper of the car.

i belive when the car is sold the plate thats on it is sold too, when my mates have sold there cars with private plates they have always had the guy buying the car fill out the forms and transfer the plate to them as a gift.

As far as i am aware if you have sold the car with the private plate on you need to get the transfewr done first, wait for the new V5,MOT & Tax disc to come through then fill out the V5 in his name.

Should always change a car back to the standard plate before selling IMO saves a lot of trust & hassle

if hes needing the documents fast then put it in his name and when he gets the documents through he can fill out the paper work and transfer the plate or just tell him to wait until you get the plate transfrered off then put it in his name

This.

Strictly speaking, if the new keepers name is on the V5, he owns the number plate.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.
