Engine swap question
« on: 16 April 2013, 12:06 »
hi dont know much about mk1's but my mate has just picked up a 2L 8v AGG engine out of a mk3 and hes wondering if it would go in his mk1 clipper with little fiddling like you get with other engine conversions

It will go in by changing the engine mounts over as the mk1 has a bit of a different mounting set up. There will also be a quite extensive rewiring to get it running. You could always use the 2.0 bottom end with the mk1's cylinder head (assuming its a 1.8) which would save hassle as the mk3 injection system is completely different. Should be loads of info on the forum if you do a search mate.

personally i wouldnt bother with a 2l 8v, i would go 16v or g60 or 1.8t, if you are going to do a conversion make it one worth doing

^^This, go for a 16v will be a lot better in the long run.
