  • My other car's a van
Going off on a slight tangent the other day i parked at our local supermarket Ipulled my car in to one of those larger semi chevron spaces only to discover when halfway in to the space there was a trolley slightly protruding in to the space.  So I got out of my car (engine still running) to move the trolley.  While moving the trolley the middle aged woman from the Range Rover parked in the space the other side of the chevron area dumped her trolley next to the one I was literally just moving.  I had a bit of a rant at her....   But how ignorant and lazy can you get.  She drove off mid rant pretending i didn't exist and I ended up moving two trolleys to the trolley bay.  Just like bad parking, trolleys being left in parking spaces is another one of my pet gripes.

I can confirm i do not work in the supermarket car park collecting trolleys.

But it is a pet peeve that people leave trolleys in parking spaces.  It was just the cheek of the woman for dumping her trolley next to the one I was just moving so I could get my car in to the space.

Another hate of mine is most supermarket car parks have hills, just what is needed when people dump their trolleys.

What irks the most is when a high sided vehicle such as 4x4 or tall van that parks right next to you so your view is obscured if you need to reverse out.

Ahhh bless. Where should we park then? In the lorry bays?

If you read the context of my reply I meant 'in an empty car park'. Loads of other bays to park in, no need to park right next to me (or the lorry bays)!

It didn't come across as that, but I do know what you mean. When I'm in an ordinary car and there is a bigger vehicle next to me, it can make seeing where I've reversing quite difficult. It's not worth worrying about tho'. It's times like that when we need to rely on the observations and consideration of other drivers that who would see you edging out, realise that you can't see, and give you enough time and space. That rarely happens tho'. Most people don't realise that there is a lot more to driving than just being able to make a vehicle move.

Quite funny though. I'd loved to have seen your face

my face was first off a facial expression of complete surprise and shock that she had the balls to just rock up and dump the trolley next to the one I was moving (much like the face pulled by the head teacher in inbetweeners).  Then it changed to one of complete utter frustration and disgust (as I ranted about her ignorance and laziness).  Funny looking back on it.  But some people really do push their luck.
