mk3 16v abf ecu temp sensor part number anyone ????.

Hi all.I do'nt suppose anyone knows the part number for the 2 pin white temp sensor for the ecu on a MK3 16v abf engine.The one i'm after is held in by a clip and has an "O" ring  below it,it is situated below the dizzy.

VW ca'nt seem to find it on their system but suggested i take the old one out as it has the part number on it.Only problem with that is that mine is seized and will probably break if i pull it out with pliers which may also damage the bit with part number on.GSF do'nt seem to stock it nor do Eurocarparts.

That's for an 8v.

For the 16v part number is 026 906 161 Temperature sensor 2 pin white M10 x 1 QTY 1 ABF.


It's screwed into the side of the head, not clipped in. It's the coolant temp sensor for the ECU.

 I think the one you mean is the aircon sensor, which is nothing to do with the running of the engine, just aircon. Mine is unplugged. Is this the one you mean? On the water flange?

Thanks for your replies.The clip in one in the pic you have added that is unplugged is the one i need but i thought that was the ecu one ?.If it's the one below that (shown with the connector still attached),the one that screws in, then that's great as i have a new one ready to fit,i was planning on doing both together.

No that's for the aircon, so it won't affect the running of the engine. The coolant temp sensor for the ECU on the ABF is just below, to the left of the water flange, it screws in and it's white coloured.

Thanks all.I took the old one out and it is a Bosch item and part number on it is 0280130040 .I managed to get one from Eurocarparts ,the only one they had in stock in the whole company.I must be super unlucky as the item in box was wrong one although the part number on box was right.So far iv'e spent £20 on fuel going back and forth to them because my one is faulty.

I'm going back to bed now,try again tomorrow lol !.
