« on: 01 April 2013, 13:04 »
hi all..

this is what VAGCOM says about the codes for the airbag

Address 15     -------------------------------------------------------

            35-00 - -
01217 - Side Airbag Igniter: Driver Side (N199)
            32-10 - Resistance too High - Intermittent
00532 - Supply Voltage B+
            07-10 - Signal to Low - Intermittent

ignoring the pass airbag one.. ross-tech wiki says

01217 - Side Airbag Igniter; Front Driver Side (N199): Upper Limit Exceeded

01217 - Side Airbag Igniter; Front Driver Side (N199): Short to positive

01217 - Side Airbag Igniter; Front Driver Side (N199): Short to ground

Possible Symptoms
Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) active

Possible Causes
Wiring/Connectors from/to Side Airbag Igniter, Front Driver Side (N199) faulty
Side Airbag Igniter, Front Driver Side (N199) faulty

Possible Solutions
Check Wiring/Connectors from/to Side Airbag Igniter, Front Driver Side (N199)
Check Side Airbag Igniter, Front Driver Side (N199) faulty

Check Measuring Value Blocks (MVB)

and

00532 - Supply Voltage B+: Signal too Low

Possible Causes
Wiring/Connectors from/to Control Module faulty
Power Supply (Battery/Generator) faulty

Possible Solutions
Check/Repair Wiring/Connectors from/to Control Module
Check Power Supply (Battery/Generator)

Special Notes
When found in an individual control module, it's most likely a local source (e.g. wiring/connectors).
When found in multiple control modules at the same time, it's most likely a common source (e.g. ground spot, battery, generator).
Intermittent codes are often stored during low outside temperature when the battery capacity goes down and may be ignored.
Common with 16946/P0562/001378 - System Voltage: Too Low stored in other control modules

to get to the side igniter, is that a strip-down seat jobby? it doesnt look easy to get to..

also the supply voltage b+ prob, is the control module behind the steering wheel? would it be worth replacing...would that clear the side igniter prob aswell...

can you buy side igniters? sorry for the random jittery questions, its just im outside in the cold and figures are cold, typing is gettin difficult lol
