I have a mk4 1.9 tdi my self, tbh not cracking at all up hill or even on flat roads. What do you expect. They very under powered I guess. Mine is 90bhp lol.
No your wrong then you have the same problem that I do.
I don`t believe they would release it like that.

Lol, a peugeot 306 HDI has 90 BHP, but it has more poke than a mk4 1.9 tdi 90 bhp model.

Its the basic range of turbo diesel engine vw did, but it is more reliable than the other tdi engines.

When i bought mine, it had a new turbo fitted at 138,000, its done 154,000 now, with full VW History, 1 owner car too. so i personally dont think they can be anything wrong with it.

I remember a friend of mine had a problem with his mk3 tdi saying it felt underpowered. Turned out to be the wastegate actuator arm was seized and wasn't allowing the turbo to boost properly, just a stab in the dark what it could be.

I would say you need to get the diagnostic codes read and see what that throws up, that may or may not point you in the right direction on where the issue lie's. Not too clued up on the diesel engines so sorry I can't be more help.

Surely there is a diesel guru on here that can help?!
