is my clutch about to die?
« on: 26 March 2013, 15:47 »
Hi,

When i got my car the clutch was high, but nothing extreme and ive not noticed it too slip atall until recently. Ive done the test thingy by putting it into 4th gear and seeing if it stalls and it does. Also ive gone uphil and put it into 4th and 5th gear and its not slipped.
But ive noticed today that when im travelling in 5th and drop the box to get some speed up, it speeds up at first, then theres a moment where the revs go up very slightly but no extra power and then it all comes back into play and drives correctly.

Is my clutch f**ked or could it be something normal

Clutch on its way out mate, if it's not picking up speed then revving then catching up = buggered

Why do I not feel it slipping at any other time apart from dropping the box

Clutches aren't as clear cut to test.
The one where you're traveling at 30 in 5th and then foot down usually shows a clutch issue, but not always, I've replaced clutches that were slipping all over the place that looked fine when taken off to some that were slipping a small amount and were knackered
