Power steering or lack of it
« on: 10 March 2013, 00:05 »
Ok guys got a 95-N GTi 2.0 8v colour concept non AC, when I bought the car 2x years ago she developed a sqeeling noise and at the same time the PAS didn't work , I presumed it must be power steering belt, but never got round to replacing it.

Recently after spending 12 months off the Rd, I got her mot'd and she  now has no power steering and makes a noise like a metal pulley turning and rattling !

Any ideas, is it the belts or pump would you say ?

check if there is still ps fluid in the ps fluid expansion tank... guessing it developed a leak (or has eaten itself) and is now completely dry.
to check if it's the belt.... go and buy one and replace it

There is fluid, and haven't had a chance to change belt with work and kids !
Might get a chance tomorrow, but might not be worth it if I buy a diseasel and swap my bits over to it !
