I wouldn't bother with the big dog thing , a couple of tooled up thieves will kill the dog in less than a minute ;)

Unless your gonna get several big dogs of course , but then your house will stink.

A decent house alarm and lock the keys in a safe is my advice !

And a good thief will find and remove a tracker no prob. Waste of money .

Keys in a safe and/or by the side of your bed is asking for trouble..... Personally I'd rather just let them find the keys downstairs and be away with the car than wake me up threatening who knows what for the safe combination!
A house alarm is obviously a good idea as they'll move on to the next house....... Having said that, when my Bora was stolen I spoke to Martin Samson (of Sanspeed) to warn of thieves in the area and he told me his house was burgled on a bright Sunday afternoon by the scum throwing a brick through their patio door.... House alarm ringing, they ransacked their bedroom, stole jewelry and made off with Martins BMW...
