Side airbag sensors - mind of their own?
« on: 02 February 2013, 14:30 »
Hi all,
Little bit lost with this issue - couple of weeks ago the airbag light flashed up and "Airbag Fault" was displayed. Borrowed my mates handheld diagnostic dooda and there were only 2 codes for the whole car (pretty relieved)

The faults were 01221 and 01222 (The machine gave limited info but some Googling showed that both side Airbag Sensors were flagging up.

Google search was my friend, found lots of hints n tips on how to solve...
(Remove chairs, check connections, lift carpets - check condition / connections / damp etc, check fuses...) Everything I tried / fixed had the same result - beep, airbag fault.
Each time I cleared the fault, fingers crossed firmly, but it flicked back up again.

Mega downhearted, I bit the bullet and bought new sensors (Part number IJ 0909606D) - fitted this morning and again, that feckin bleep.  Still "Airbag Fault" with airbag icon constantly illuminated.

I've done everything I can think of, am I missing something?!
ANY help would be gratefully received!

Apologies if you think I'm a newbie not using search, I have searched, tried what the results suggested and gone round in circles and just in desperate need of help now

UPDATE:
Installed both new sensors.
Error still showing and diagnostics still saying 01221 & 01222 at fault.
What's going on with this thing - tearing my hair out!

You only ever need two tools in life. If it moves and it shouldn't use Duct Tape. If it does not move and it should, use WD40.
