yeah i've bought a multimeter and tested it. it seems to be working fine. fan is ok too and thermostat serms to be fine. smoke is white in the morning like a steam engine but no coolant leak that i can find and not lising coolantlosing coolant as reservoir is not losimg fluid. motor oil not overfilled, gearbox oil not overfilled. dizzy cap plugs and wires changed. battery ok but still almost chokes to death in the mornings and almost stutters out when coming to a stop but doesn't. once driven for awhile it settles down. fuel ecomony is crap was getting beween 6.8-8/100km now getting 9-11/100km. vagcom shows no faults. wonder if the caralytic converter is gone but want to know what caused it to fail. could a blocked vacuum hose cause this???i checked them a few months ago...there is no mayo in the oil, no bubbles either and the plugs weren't burnt when i changed them. i will however damage the engine most likely if i keep driving it as it is. it runs about 200-300rpm than it used to in the past. love driving it but matbe it is tellinge that it should go into retirement:(

anyone live near ascot that could have a look at it before i take it to the shop? maybe i am missing something simple...,
