New Golf MKIV V5 Owner
« on: 01 February 2013, 14:51 »
OK, so it isn't strictly a GTi, but you guys seemed to have the best knowledge of the bunch

So, I am new here, I am picking up a 1999 MKIV Golf V5 tomorrow with 86k on the clock. Looking forward to it as it has been MANY years since I have ownd a Golf (Used to run MK2 GTi's for a LONG time)

So, here she is

Only pic I have of her at the moment but everything is in place, I pick her up tomorrow.

Now the Golf will be my daily driver, I do have another car that is my "weekend" toy - a 300BHP 1996 MR2 Turbo.

This one is getting close to being completed so I may well be looking for some "Euro Look" hints and tips for the V5. Also, I have no idea on the tuning potential of the V5 engine (I THINK it is an earlier one at 150BHP)

So, here I am :)

Thanks

The MR2 has really been a labour of love but as I am sure you can imagine, it's not really a car suited to daily driving

Still, show season is coming and once she is finished, it's time to start on the Golf

Thanks for the welcome

The MR2 needs a certain driving style, that's for sure. Seriously quick to drive with a rear wheel drive, mid engined setup, in the dry it is incredible. In the wet however........
