Old Smokey

NON VAG diesel issue.  :lipsrsealed:

I currently have a Pug 306 HDi in my possesion

it gets left a week or 2 without being ran

when it does get started it BELLOWS bacl , thick black sooty smoke out.

Then when taken for a run is eventually turns to a thinner grey smoke, but again bellows out a huge cloud of greyer smoke for ages - enough to make the car behind dissappear

eventually it clears itself to a standard smokey old pug diesel kinda smoke

So, is this just cos its getting left week in week without use ?

thanks in advance

sounds like it could be the injectors leaking, allowing diesel to drip into the bores, hence all the smoke on start up

Injectors leaking and then the excess diesel being burnt off.

Which Scania V8 are you partial too? I don't think you can beat a chipped 144 530 with straight through 6" stacks or 5" slash cut side pipes.

Chuff, could also be a carbon build up in the turbo if the previous owner drove it on a lot of short trips at slow speeds

snap on the engine,  but mine was sorced from a knackerd harvister  and has been fitted to something a littel diffrent. it's in a pickup well been wedged it into the fat arse yanky bus  that is a ford XLT 450

half wish hadnt started the swap as still snagging and its not reliable yet but the engine is epic compared to the nasty powerstroke that was in there,  just a LOT of tweeking still to do.

You want to put a set of marine injectors in it, advance the timing 3 degrees, put an oversized borg warner turbo on it and get it chipped, that will up the power a lot, a mate had a 144 530 and did all that, when he put it on a rolling road it made over 900 hp at the wheels and over doubled to torque.

What you done/doing with the powerstroke you took out? A mate of mine is thinking of buying an Omega to put a big diesel engine in like a powerstroke or a duramax, so if your looking to selling it I'll see if he wants to buy it.

the powerstroke that came out is scrap

it'll run if you can get it started but sounds awfull,  compression vairies from low to none  runs on 5 or 6 pots  and made just about enough power to limp the truck, hence why it got riped out
