You might want to check the relays - I had a problem years ago - on Mk2 where car would play up after being running for a while (30 minutes) - changed relay fixed the issue - it's worth checking.

I wish my car was at your garage..mine's been laid up for 3 weeks now

On of the 1st things they did was to change the warm up reg but didn't cure the prob. Initially it started fine and was running correctly but once again as soon as it reached normal temp it lost its revs and died!

Once they pull their fingers out and test the ignition system I'll let you know but one thing thats worrying me is about a week before the trouble started i used one shot fuel cleaning solution from Redex,do you think that could have a part to play in this or am i just getting paranoid?

  that's my point

Any way they have fixed it

There was a series of things wrong with it and one of them was a part they supplied which was all catered for under a warranty.

Starting from the back it was the fuel pump in the tank, new injectors and more importantly/expensively it was the warm up valve. These faults resulted in a 20+ fuel pressure, when it should have been 80+.

The warmup valve had to be got from the stealers and was £200+

So though they took their time, importantly it appears to be fixed

Are the WUR's that much? Have you checked to make sure they are not adding to the price?

I just got a second hand one for under a tenner!

fuel pump in tank is about £40 i think, and injectors are around £31each! (the merc ones anyways)

I had a pump for £27

The WUV is that dear because it has to come from the VW Stealers

GSF and Euro do not list the 16V WUV  It is OK if you want an 8V one without the water feed then GSF and Euro can do them for about £90 ish.

The WUR does not have a water feed, just fuel in and out and an air pipe to the iSV!
