Idling issue?-please read
« on: 16 October 2012, 19:46 »
Hi All,

I will try and keep this precise, car went in for MOT passed on everything except emissions.Garage kept car tinkered around with it, rev'd it lots and cleaned throttle body(?????) it then passed emissions test and I got MOT. Day later I took car for a drive got it to normal operating temp and noticed it was idling erractically, rev needle all over the place and car kept hunting!. Took it back to garage they tinkered around with it again and concluded that the Maas Air Meter was pooped as car idled good without  it plugged in, plugged it back in car idled erractic again!.

Since then I have got a meter on order and hae got myself a fault code reader, ran a test tonite and low and behold fault code central I got the following codes

00520-Mass Air flow sensor
00523-IAT Sensor-temp high -circuit low/IAT Sensor temp low-circuit high??? not sure which one as
00537-Oxygen sensor
00557-?????????????? not sure what this one is-anyone any ideas?.

Am I right in saying (please correct me if not!)  that as the Mass Air flow sensor is pooped it has thrown up faults on these  other sensors even though they could be working ok or is possible that all 4 sensors have pooped out at the same time??. Would you try to fix by process of elimation ie fit replacement Mass air flow sensor run fault code program again??? Or buy new sensors per the fault codes?

Any help would be welcomed

Thanks

Jason

Also where are these other sensors located? (if fault code 00557 is a sensor!)

start with the MAF, its not uncommon to get multiple codes

Fit the new MAF and then rescan, see what you get
ARZ K03s, Oettinger Side Skirts, R32 front, Carbon stage 2, Forge 007p (yellow spring), Forge Actuator (yellow spring), Pipercross panel filter with DSG parts, N249 and N112 deleted, SAI deleted, Carbon canister deleted, Rear wiper deleted, Long Life turbo back custom exhaust with 200 cell sports cat, VR6/G60 clutch kit, Creation Motorsport TIP, Catch can, 'Wellycooler', K04 charge pipe, S3 ported inlet manifold - looks pretty standard on the outside though :)

just a thing to point out that unplugging the MAF will throw a code anyway, have you erased the codes and started again so to speak. incase some may be stored codes
